CRISMA Participation and Training session in the 7th International Conference on Forest Fire Research

From 14th to 21st November, the city of Coimbra will host the 7th International Conference on Forest Fire Research which is organised by the Portuguese Partner of CRISMA, ADAI (Association for the Development of Industrial Aerodynamic). The conference will inform about the latest developments in forest fire science and technology, and provide an opportunity to meet relevant stakeholders and promote cooperation in research and management.

CRISMA has agreed to support this conference and throughout the course of the conference will deliver three presentations. One will be given as part of the session on Forest Fire Risk Assessment and Climate Change by Mr. Alexander Garcia of the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia in Italy. He will speak about the assessment and management of cascading effects in forest fires. The second presentation will introduce the CRISMA project to the participants and will be delivered by Ms. Anna-Mari Heikkila of the VTT Technical Research Centre in Finland, project coordinator. The third presentation is called "Population dynamics data for wildfire emergency management" and will be presented by Miguel Almeida (ADAI).

The CRISMA project partners have also organised a training that will be held under the auspices of the conference, showing the achievements so far reached by the CRISMA project. During the training, three scenarios will be examined - earthquake followed by forest fire; flooding events as well as the management of medical emergency services during a crisis situation and demonstrates what CRSIMA can do for helping the different stakeholders to better manage the crisis.
