CLIMB and CLIWASEC Final Conference in Brussels, 21st November 2013

The FP-7 projects CLIMB (Climate Induced Changes on the Hydrology of Mediterranean Basins) together with CLIWASEC (Climate Change, Water and Security) are hosting a final conference on 21st November in Brussels, at the Bavarian Representation near the European Parliament.

The full-day conference addresses the research findings on the impacts of climate change and water and security issues, focusing on the Mediterranean region, which is experiencing increasingly paramount threats. The Mediterranean region is particularly at risk due to its acute susceptibility to changes in the hydrological budget and extremes, which has a significant impact on the management of water resources on key strategic sectors of regional economies; this is coupled with intra- and inter-state conflict among social, political, ecological and economic actors. The event will highlight these issues along with the potential adaptation and prevention policy measures that emphasize multi-disciplinary analysis and action.

It will bring together scientists, stakeholders and policymakers to discuss and exchange on the research and policy decisions and potential recommendations from international, national and regional perspectives. The presentations and panel discussions will contribute to a jointly delivered position paper that will be published shortly after the event. CRISMA will be represented at this event and will have the possibility to develop networking opportunities.
